Abby Anghileri

Born and raised in Cambridge, I love showing visitors the famous sights and hidden gems that make the place so special.   

Having worked in the city’s thriving venture capital market for more than a decade, I have a particular interest in the Cambridge Phenomenon and a unique insight into many of the companies who played a major role in some of the most cutting edge technologies coming out of the city.

I also love the history the city is steeped in and enjoy nothing more than disappearing down a rabbit hole to uncover Cambridge’s hidden past.

Always keen to offer a wider perspective, my tours mix history, humour, and local knowledge to bring my home town’s past and present vividly to life; and with a commitment to neurodiversity and a qualification in British Sign Language (Lvl 3), I strive to make my tours as inclusive and accessible as possible.

I’ve lived and worked in Cambridge for 30 years and brought up my children here, so I have a deep local knowledge and appreciation of the city. I love constantly discovering new things about its past, present and future and I’m passionate about sharing these discoveries with others.

My tours focus on explaining Cambridge in context - why here; when and why the university arrived; and the impact it has had on the city - while at the same time telling (often scandalous!) stories about the people who have lived here and the changes they’ve brought about.

But it’s not about me - I love to get to know the individuals I’m hosting, so I can adapt my tours to their specific backgrounds and interests and make sure I’m putting the stories into their context.
